Bugfix Number One I'm
not going to lie to you. Sometime during the zillion computer operations
necessary to completing this movie, a bug crept in. We literally chased our
tails to find it, spent hundreds of hours chasing it down, and finally
discovered that somewhere in this process, the following MUST have occurred.
We weren't able to catch it until after the duplication phase.
This
is the best current technical explanation of what occurred:
Alpha's
voice in stereo is 180 degrees out of phase. This causes the two parts to
function as "voice" and "anti-voice" which, when combined,
causes the voice to perfectly annihilate itself, leaving the rest of the
soundtrack intact. Her lips are moving, but only music is coming out.
This
doesn't matter during stereo playback (although the center mix in surround
sound may experience dropout) but, in any monaural mix, her voice will
disappear altogether, making for a very frustrating viewing, since her
dialogue contains the essence of the plot. Kind of like playing a video game
where you can't figure out how to get out of the opening screen.
If
you MUST play this in a monaural mix, play it back through the LEFT channel
only. The mix is sufficiently centered that all of the audio information will
be there ... and you can hear Alpha's voice clean and clear.
This
will be corrected in MOYST v1.02. Thanks.
